I've been embarking on a project to archive the Jrockyaoi LiveJournal community, which centered around RPF of Japanese rock/visual kei musicians, and as I've been doing the archiving, I've been noticing a lot of things! Overarching trends, fandom culture stuff, funny lines in fics, all of these that I wanted to share with people!

Even if you don't know who any of these guys are that I'll namedrop, if you're interested in Livejournal fandom culture, anime fandom culture, or RPF fandoms and how they operate, I'd really love my posts to spark discussion (and to maybe vkeipill some people...)

Hello, everyone! In celebration of Dreamwidth's anniversary, I've made some colorful Dreamsheep icons to share over at dreamsheep. You can find them over here. I'm also taking color and color combination requests, though I don't promise to get to them immediately 😅

In the last 4 years a successful effort was made to support Dreamwidth by gifting points to other DW users. Let's make it 5!

Since part of the purpose of the 3 Weeks event is to generate support for the Dreamwidth site, I'd like to issue a call for Dreamwidth users who can spare a little cash to offer points for other Dreamwidth users.

What does that mean?

I’m hosting a ficlet a day prompt table here rather on my own journal and the aim is to write at least one ficlet with a minimum of 500 words for each day of the 3 weeks and post it on DW. There is a handy copy/paste box with the table code at the bottom. There is a wee list of rules below and I will have some banners made for participants, these will be available towards the end.

The prompts on the table below should cover the whole of 3weeks4dreamwidth. I used a randomiser several times to get the final choices from my list of over 400 words once the sneaky duplicates were removed.

Rules:
All fills must be a minimum of 500 words, no maximum.
All fills must be posted on DW – in your own journal or in a comment to this post.
Use discretion and any relevant warnings for adult content and for RPF/RPS.

For Three Weeks For Dreamwidth I'm hosting a couple Tokusatsu events in two of the comms I run!

First toku100challenge has a drabblethon! What makes this special is you won't need to follow a prompt table as you would normally do for standard posting.

tokurecs is hosting its usual monthly Self Rec post but the time has been extended to the entire event period instead of the usual week or so. :D

In my events journal, I am running a multifandom ultra-rarepair promptfest for this event; Rarest of Rarepairs: Micro Edition. This is for romantic/sexual ships with 35 works or under on AO3 (not counting any other archives), using otp:true.

In my comm, ficto , I am running a three week ficto fest for fictosexuals/romantics/fictospectrum folks, self-shippers, yumeshippers, and anyone aligned to that.

I will make Dreamwidth the first online place I visit every day, outside of news outlets or my inbox. Anything I want to write or remark on, I will do so on Dreamwidth. I will not visit other social media platforms until I am caught up on my DW circle and the event feed.

We're in April already! I figured I'd check to see if there's interest in running 3 Weeks For Dreamwidth again this year, and also ask if anybody would like to host some activities in their journals or communities.

Also a good time to start thinking of posts you might want to make, for your hobbies or fandoms or those book reviews you've been meaning to write. After all, the whole point of the fest is to get more activity on DW.

Thanks to all the donors and giftees for stepping forward to take part in the Points Gifts challenge.

In the end we had 12 donors and 19 giftees. Donors have been notified about making their point gifts directly to assigned giftees. If you offered to donate and have not received a direct message from me, please let me know.

Giftees should be seeing messages from Dreamwidth when the gifts go through. If you have not received anything by May 31, please let me know as something may have gone awry.

Once all gifts have been sent we will have added $384.50 to Dreamwidth's intake this year \o/
