Get Gifted with Dreamwidth Services!

In this event's first week 11 people stepped forward to donate Dreamwidth points to other site users who wanted to add or try out paid features. Per their pledges we have enough points to gift either 66 people $3 each in points, or fewer people enough points for particular things (such as 6 months of a premium paid account, a rename token, extra icons, etc.).

Now however it's your turn: we need people who would like paid features to step forward! Leave a comment indicating you'd like some Dreamwidth points, or mention what you'd specifically like the points for. (That way I can allot points based on desired purchases). Comments to this post are screened and all you need say is "Points!".

Remember, paid features support Dreamwidth financially. Having giftees means we add money to Dreamwidth's coffers.

Please also promote this offer in your account and communities if you're not interested in paid features yourself! Read more... )

Please leave a comment by May 14! On May 15 I'll start matching donors with giftees and those leaving comments here should be receiving points by the end of the month.

(Also if you'd still like to donate points, just visit the donor post and comment with the amount there)

3 Weeks for Dreamwidth Point Gifting

In the last 3 years a successful effort was made to support Dreamwidth by gifting points to other DW users. Let's make it 4!

Since part of the purpose of the 3 Weeks event is to generate support for the Dreamwidth site, I'd like to prompt a call for Dreamwidth users who can spare a little cash to offer points for other Dreamwidth users.

What does that mean?

Dreamwidth services can be purchased through points. As explained at the link: "Points cost 10 cents ($0.10 USD) each and can be used in place of cash in the site store." Read more... )

Questions can also be left in comments below and I will either respond directly or update this post with further information.

Dreamwidth Points Challenge Wrap-Up
Just a final post for this event to let everyone know how the Points Gifts challenge worked out.

In the end we had 12 donors and 14 giftees. Points have now been allotted and donors have been notified about making their point gifts directly to assigned giftees. Giftees should be seeing messages from Dreamwidth when the gifts go through.

Once those are complete we should have added $216.50 to Dreamwidth's intake this year \o/

Thanks to all the donors and giftees for stepping forward!

Points Gifts 2023!
Last year a successful effort was made to support Dreamwidth by gifting points to other DW users. So let's try it again!

As part of the purpose of the 3 Weeks event is to generate support for the Dreamwidth site, I'd like to prompt a call for Dreamwidth users who can spare a little cash to offer points for other Dreamwidth users.

What does that mean?

Dreamwidth services can be purchased through points. As explained at the link: "Points cost 10 cents ($0.10 USD) each and can be used in place of cash in the site store."

The minimum points purchase is $3.

One of the pluses of points is that the recipient can use it for whatever they'd prefer, which might include:

  • rename tokens
  • extra icons
  • extending their paid account time
  • access to extra features

Some users may not have an easy way of paying for Dreamwidth services, so a points gift can be very helpful. Other users might want a month's paid account as a test run to see if they'd like to pay for one themselves. Since there are some features that are available only for paid accounts, it can be a reason to explore what one can do with Dreamwidth! Read more... )

Questions can also be left in comments below and I will either respond directly or update this post with further information.

Thanks to all the donors and giftees for stepping forward!
